Famous Japanese Tourist Attraction | Engaku-ji Temple (1512)

| Engaku-ji Temple (1512). Engaku-ji, the head temple of the Engaku-ji branch of the Rinzai Zen sect in Japan. The principal image is the Crowned Shakyamuni Buddha. In 1282, Hojo Tokimune built the temple to commemorate and worship the Mongolian spirits who died during the Mongol invasions of Japan, and invited the great master Mugaku Sogen from Mongolia to preside over its founding. It is one of Japan's very famous sightseeing and worship temples.
