The pond gradually filled with water and became a lake. Because a general who supervised the city construction often washed his horse by the lake, people called it "Xima Pond". Also, because the Ming Dynasty scholar Yang Shen was demoted here, he saw the pond and thought of Gui Lake in his hometown, which made him feel emotional. Therefore, "Xima Pond" was also called "Xiaogui Lake". Xiaogui Lake is not very large, but it has a moat, an island, and a pavilion. The lake water changes color with the weather. There are many merchants around, and it is very close to Chaoyang Tower, making it a good place for people to relax and have fun.
