Da Chen Ancient Village: Hui-style architectural complex; village song culture

After driving more than 470 kilometers, we arrived at Da Chen Ancient Village, which is only about 10 kilometers away from the booked hotel. Da Chen Ancient Village, located in Dachen Township, Jiangshan City, Quzhou, Zhejiang, is one of the top ten most beautiful villages in China and a historical and cultural village in China. Da Chen Ancient Village has the best-preserved and most concentrated Hui-style architectural complex in western Zhejiang, with the Wang Family Ancestral Hall being the most representative, serving as an important landmark of the ancient village. Inside the village, Cuiwen Middle School reflects Da Chen Village's emphasis on culture and education. During the Republic of China period, a member of the Wang clan, who had followed Mr. Sun Yat-sen to Japan and joined the Tongmenghui, resigned from his position as the director of the Fujian Provincial Tax Bureau in the 1940s, returned to his hometown, and used clan assets to establish the school. Over the years, the primary, middle, and junior teachers' schools have cultivated a large number of knowledgeable talents for the local area. After the founding of New China, it was transformed into Jiangshan Junior Normal School. Da Chen Village has a history of more than 600 years. The entire village is surrounded by mountains and water, lush with trees. There are currently 75 Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, over 100 ancient residences, ancestral halls, and stages, and more than 3,000 meters of bluestone-paved roads. It is a settlement of the descendants of the Wang clan from Huizhou. In recent years, the village has actively developed modern tourism services: Red Army Exhibition Hall, coffee bars, tea bars, etc., integrating historical culture, Hui-style ancient architecture, natural scenery, and modern tourism services into a comprehensive tourist destination. Especially noteworthy is the "village song culture," which has been featured on CCTV. Learning village songs, singing village songs, and holding village song festivals have become new features of Da Chen Village. Quzhou Jiangshan has many ancient villages, and Da Chen Ancient Village is definitely a must-see ancient village. It is only 10 kilometers away from Jiangshan City, making it easily accessible and particularly suitable for self-driving travelers.
