Sea rock: Hundreds of millions of years ago, southern China was still an ocean. After a tectonic shift, an island rose above the sea, which was the predecessor of Fanjing Mountain. The island continued to rise into a towering peak on the plateau, its outer layer of limestone eroded by wind and rain, while the inner metamorphic rock was almost insoluble in water, and the wind and rain could not erode it much. Thus, over hundreds of millions of years, the wind and rain have carved out the hard and proud Fanjing Mountain we see today. 3.
