Yanzhou Ancient City

The ancient city of Yanzhou is located on Zhengda Street, Meicheng Town, Jiande City, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It was built in 225 AD and has a history of 1,800 years. It has existed as a provincial capital for more than 1,200 years. During the Three Kingdoms period, it was called Jiande. In the Tang Dynasty, the prefecture was called Muzhou. In the Song Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan changed Muzhou to Yanzhou, which was used until the Republic of China. The geographical environment is located at the confluence of Xin'an River and Lan River in the upper reaches of Qiantang River, with Wulong Mountain on its back and Sanjiangkou in front. It is an important wharf in the Xin'an River and Qiantang River basins. The ancient city is not large and is mainly composed of two streets, one horizontal and one vertical. Fan Zhongyan once served as the governor of Muzhou here and built the "Mr. Yan's Temple".
