Hoshino Resorts KAI Izumo

Many years ago, I stayed at KAI Nikko and had a great time. This time, I planned a trip to Shimane Prefecture and decided to stay at KAI Izumo. I booked the early bird rate 90 days in advance, and the price was about RMB 2,200 for one night with two meals, which is quite reasonable for a hot spring hotel in Japan. 🚕 The hotel is not very convenient for non-self-driving travelers. There are only four buses a day from Izumo Taisha to Hinomisaki Lighthouse, and the intervals are long. The four of us chose to take a taxi, which was more flexible in terms of time. The road to the hotel winds around the mountain and faces the sea, and the scenery is beautiful. 🏨 The hotel is relatively new and does not have the dilapidated feel of an old hot spring hotel. The room is a combination of Japanese and Western styles, and the bathroom is also large. I want to complain that the view of the lighthouse from my room was completely blocked by a pine tree, and I could only see the tip of the tower. I don't know what the view is like from other rooms. 🍱 The dinner was average, but the presentation and tableware were nice, and the portions were generous. I was worried that there would be nothing to eat at night in this remote place, but I was full after the meal. ♨️ The hot spring was great, and the saline spring water was interesting. The open-air bath had several single-person pools with a slope at the bottom, so you could lie down and soak in the hot spring while looking at the stars above you. It was a great experience. 🎭 I also watched the Iwami Kagura performance in the evening. It was mainly for entertainment, and for non-native speakers, this kind of traditional art performance is indeed difficult to appreciate. However, it was a good way to pass the time in the evening. 🌊 You can also visit the Hinomisaki Coast and Lighthouse near the hotel. The waves on the San'in Coast are big, and the sea is deep and has a unique flavor.
