[Iwaki Corridor Museum, Fukushima]

#DomesticTravelRecord This outdoor art museum was designed by the world-famous contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, and opened in 2013. He has won international art awards, including the Venice Biennale, and served as the art director for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. He once stayed in Iwaki and had a solo exhibition at the Iwaki City Museum of Art. As a result of this connection, this outdoor art museum was created as a joint project with the Iwaki Ten Thousand Cherry Blossoms Project, which began after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. The corridors display works by local artists and students.
