It has a history of nearly 1,500 years and is famous for its huge dome. It is the most glorious representative of Byzantine architecture, the central church of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and a monument to the heyday of the Byzantine Empire. Hagia Sophia is centralized, 77.0 meters long from east to west, 71.0 meters long from north to south, and 54.8 meters high. It is the third church built in 532 AD by order of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. With the support of the Byzantine Empire's strong national power, it was designed by the physicist Isidore of Miletus and the mathematician Anthemius of Tralles and completed in 537 AD. After 1453, it was occupied by the Turks and converted into a mosque. It was converted into a museum in 1935 and listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1985.
