This is a museum dedicated to the art and history of "mechanical dolls" (Karakuri dolls), and it is also the studio of the ninth generation master Tamaya Sobei. From the Edo period to the present, this traditional craft has been passed down for more than 300 years and is one of the representatives of Japan's intangible cultural assets.
