#springwander A park developed centred on Takato Castle, which was demolished in the abolition of feudal domains in 1871. It became a famous cherry blossom spot as a result of the transplantation of cherry blossoms by the former feudal retainers of the Takato Domain, and it is counted as one of the "three major cherry blossom spots in Japan" along with Hirosaki Park in Aomori Prefecture and Mt. Yoshino in Nara Prefecture. About 1,500 Takato Okohiganzakura trees, including old trees over 140 years old, are planted on the site, and they are at their best in early April every year. Takato Okohiganzakura is an endemic species of Takato, and it is characterised by slightly smaller and reddish flowers. During the flowering period, it is also lit up at night, and you can enjoy the charming night cherry blossoms that are different from the daytime.
