Soak in a hot spring with a mountain view at Sangitei Honkan Hotel, Nagano Prefecture

Sangitei Honkan is a ryokan located on a hill in Lida, Nagano, Japan. This hotel used to be an old Showa-era castle building, but has now been converted into a hotel. It is still in good condition and is famous for its beautiful onsen (hot springs). The hotel consists of ryokan and European-style rooms, a hall, a restaurant, indoor and outdoor hot springs, and a bar for guests to use. Room rates start at 14,600 yen (excluding breakfast). Breakfast is included, and the price varies depending on the set meal you choose. Check-in time is 15:00 and check-out time is 10:00. We stayed in a ryokan room for 1 night. The room has futons (Japanese-style mattresses), yukata to change into and take a shower, tea set + snacks, and a private bathroom. However, once we arrived here, we had to try the famous hot springs. The hot springs here are separated into men's and women's areas. Guests who are not staying at the hotel can also use the services for a fee per visit. Before soaking in the onsen, you must cleanse your body first. The bathroom has free soap and shampoo, and a sauna. We went to the outdoor onsen, which is said to be the highlight of this hotel, and we were not disappointed. Soaking in the warm onsen and enjoying the view was really great. We went in the morning, and there were no other guests, so we were able to fully enjoy the beautiful view.
