Have you ever seen a government office with a lobby covering more than 500 square meters? The area of ​​the lobby of Huai'an Prefecture Office is the largest in the country, and the overall area of ​​the office is also not small (it also has a huge garden). The grand building is a symbol and witness of Huai'an's historical status. As one of the only two remaining government offices in the country, Huai'an Government Office is also a place with a story. Famous cases such as the case of Li Yuchang (The World's Granary) were tried here. Guan Hanqing also wrote the drama "The Injustice of Dou E" based on the Huai'an Prefecture Office. As soon as you enter the door, you can feel the spaciousness and grandeur of the ancient government office. It is divided into three roads: east, middle and west. The middle road has the lobby, second hall, and six department rooms. Those who come with children can take a look at the lobby, the rooms of the six departments, and the residences of the officials’ families in the back. The east road is a place for welcoming guests and holding banquets. It is now relatively empty and there is nothing to see. The west road is the military arrest hall, which displays ancient torture instruments. Friends who are visiting with the elderly and children are advised to be cautious when visiting, as the scenery inside is quite realistic and may cause psychological trauma. To be honest, even a straight-forward woman like me couldn’t bear it after watching it, so I took my baby and left… The most surprising thing is that there is a huge garden at the back, which is really enviable. There are rockery, lakes, stone docks, waterfalls, flowers and plants inside, as well as a large Sanhuai Terrace, which is said to be the platform where officials worshipped the river god and suppressed water monsters. For tourists, the garden is the most photogenic place, where they can take photos, climb the rockery to enjoy the view, and play hide-and-seek on the rock hills.
