The fact that Wi-Fi and cell phone connectivity would be cut off immediately after check-in initially felt unsettling. However, after two days, this disconnection became a tremendous blessing. Instead of the TV in the center of the living room, I found time to gaze blankly at the lush forest through the large windows. Instead of habitually reaching for my smartphone, I could focus on a book or myself. Being disconnected from the world gave me abundant time for contemplation, allowing me to listen to my inner voice.
