Tai Lam Chung Reservoir was completed in 1957. As there are many hills in the reservoir, it looks like several islands, so it is known as the Thousand Islands Lake in Hong Kong. It is one of the top ten scenic spots in the hiking world. In the past, it was not easy to overlook Qiandao Lake, but the Fisheries and Conservation Department built the "Qiandao Viewing Platform" at the end of 2018, which greatly reduced the difficulty of appreciating Qiandao Lake. The red leaves of the Liquidambar forest do not come from maple trees (belonging to the Aceraceae family), but from liquidambar trees (Hamamelidaceae family). The leaves of the two are similar in shape, but the leaves of the sweet gum tree are generally three-lobed, while the leaves of the maple tree are five-lobed. During the red leaf season, the Liquidambar Garden is crowded with people. Continue up the mountain path and you will see the 10th branch of the MacLehose Trail. Turn left towards Tin Fu Tsai Sham Tseng and turn right towards Tuen Mun. For this trip, choose the right side towards Tuen Mun. After going up for a while, you will see the sign for the Bogong'ao section, which means you are in the right direction.
