"Seemingly Near Yet Far" Exhibition @ Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre

Artist Tan Ruolan attempts to re-infiltrate the natural world into our urban space with a set of mixed media works. Responding to the uniqueness of the building, the work employs different media—handmade paper, projection, sound, machinery, animation, and lighting—to manifest natural flows, subtle changes, and the passage of time, evoking correspondingly real scenes in the natural world. We can try to stop or slow down, gaze at these fictional landscapes, feel the tranquility to re-examine the complex relationship between us and nature, which seems near and far away, and reflect on our actual living environment today!
