Tai Kwun is the former Central Police Station of Hong Kong, known as Victoria Gaol, and the longest-running prison in the history of Hong Kong. It is located at the eastern end of Hollywood Road, in Central. Victorian prison was completed on 4 August 1841 and finally shut in early 2006. It was redeveloped and reopened as a cultural, shopping and dining destination in 2018. There are a number of historical buildings you can enter and see the prison cells in which prisoners used to live in. There is a building which holds a great deal of contemporary art and a number of high-quality restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating in the courtyard. There are also a few souvenir shops. Tai Kwun can be reached by the escalators and stairs up to Mid Levels.
