From the slaughterhouse to the art village. One place; two styles.

The Cattle Depot Art Village was formerly the Ma Tau Kok Livestock Inspection Station, a central cattle slaughterhouse built in 1908. It ceased operations in August 1999 and was renovated and split into several units that were rented out to local artists as studios, gradually evolving into an art village. The most special thing about the Niuping Art Village is the bungalow buildings paved with red bricks, which are quite distinctive. In addition, many local art groups have settled in the village. After a walk around, you will find that the cultural atmosphere has become much stronger and it is no longer a cultural desert. Thirteenth Street and the Gas Company near the Art Village are also places worth visiting.
