Located in Tung Tsz, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong, the Tsz Shan Monastery Buddhist Art Museum is uniquely positioned with the Pat Sin Leng mountain range as its backdrop and facing the Plover Cove Reservoir. It is the only museum in Hong Kong dedicated to Buddhist art exhibitions and academic research. Highlights of the Collection The museum houses precious artifacts ranging from the Northern Qi dynasty to the Ming and Qing dynasties, including Buddhist statues and Dunhuang manuscripts. The exhibits span three major Buddhist traditions (Chinese, Tibetan, and Theravada), showcasing pieces such as the Northern Qi Contemplative Bodhisattva from China and the Standing Jizo Bodhisattva from Japan's Heian period, offering visitors a glimpse into the fusion of Buddhism and various civilizations. Entry is scheduled by time slots, with a daily limit of 400 visitors. Admission requires a reservation confirmation, and tickets are non-transferable. Visitors are expected to dress modestly, avoiding revealing or overly flamboyant attire. Activities such as loud talking, smoking, drinking alcohol, and bringing meat products are prohibited. Photography is restricted in certain areas, and flashlights must be turned off inside the museum. Scripture copying sessions are held from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Buddhist Art Museum's Tung Tsz Study Room. Materials for copying the Heart Sutra or Avalokiteshvara Sutra are provided free of charge, and participants receive a commemorative stamp upon completion.
