High-Quality Hotpot Spot Recommended by a Foodie

After work, I met up with a foodie friend to try out a hotpot place he recommended in Yau Ma Tei. This restaurant, which I usually pass by without noticing, turned out to be bustling with activity in its basement. The two of us ordered the $268 mid-range "Beef Feast" set. It includes unlimited hand-sliced Angus beef and sashimi, perfect for those who prefer quality over quantity. The self-service area offers unlimited canned drinks, beer, a variety of vegetables, and meatballs to satisfy your cravings! The highlights, of course, are the crispy fried bean curd rolls and fish skin, which are excellent in variety. For the soup base, we chose the "Mixed Sauce Clam Pot." The clams were impressively large, plump, and fresh, with sweet and juicy meat. Paired with the flavorful sauce, it was perfect for dipping the fish skin. The clams cooked in the sake-infused broth turned into a delightful hotpot experience. Just as the sashimi platter arrived, we were thrilled by its freshness. Though the selection was limited, the salmon, yellowtail, surf clams, and botan shrimp were all fresh and satisfying. The hand-sliced Angus beef, served per person, came in a half-board with seven cuts, beautifully presented! The selection included beef tongue, beef cubes, chuck flap, short ribs, and brisket. Each cut was well-marbled with a balanced ratio of pink meat and fat, delivering a rich beefy flavor. Don't forget to enjoy the unlimited Hoegaarden draft beer. Pairing hotpot with ice-cold draft beer is truly a treat! After finishing the beef platter, you can encore with unlimited servings of beef chuck, black pork, pork belly slices, and fried items. Before leaving, make sure to cool down with a Korean ice cream bar to beat the heat. Overall, the soup base and beef quality were excellent, leaving us fully satisfied!
