Enjoying the Taste of Thailand!

I realized that I haven't had Thai food for a long time! My wife and some friends found out that a new Thai restaurant opened in Prince Edward, so we foodies immediately set a date to go and enjoy it. The new restaurant is called Thai Gathering and is located on Fa Yuen Street in Prince Edward. The entire restaurant is very transparent with floor-to-ceiling glass and high ceilings. The space is quite spacious and very comfortable to sit in. The interior decor uses green and brown colors, which are very pleasing to the eye. They didn't use too many decorations, keeping it simple and nice. As usual, we ordered drinks first! As soon as I saw the menu, I decisively chose the whole watermelon smoothie. This whole watermelon smoothie was very popular at previous markets, but I never had the chance to try it! I was surprised to find it at a Thai restaurant. The sweet watermelon juice combined with the icy smoothie was incredibly refreshing in this hot weather. The pineapple smoothie is my wife's favorite, and she didn't hesitate to choose it either! I took a sip, and the pineapple flavor was incredibly pure and fragrant, with no additives. The weather was so hot that even after the smoothie, I still felt thirsty! So, I had a big beer with my friends while enjoying Thai food, which was the best. That night, we had a large group and ordered the shrimp tower! This tower had a total of 32 fresh shrimp, perfect for taking photos and tasting. However, it needs to be pre-ordered, and you can specify the number of shrimp you want. The shrimp were very fresh and sweet. They came with two different sauces: an orange spicy sauce and a minty green sauce. Both were delicious, and the minty green sauce was quite unique. Next was a snack platter with shrimp cakes, fish cakes, spring rolls, single-bone chicken wings, and chicken rolls! This platter was perfect for beer lovers like me. I particularly liked the single-bone chicken wings, which were fried to a crispy perfection and very convenient to eat. This dish is not the grilled fish you might think; it's actually grilled squid! The concept is the same as grilled fish, served with a rich and fragrant broth. The broth was tangy and flavorful, and the squid was fresh, tender, and not chewy at all. Then came my wife's favorite dish, the signature curry crab! I was lucky to have her crack the crab claws for me. The curry was sweet and not too spicy, perfect for someone like me who can't handle too much heat! The crab meat was fresh, and my wife said it was a meat crab. If you prefer roe crabs, you can order them from the restaurant. Of course, we had to order garlic bread with the curry! The garlic bread here was baked to a crispy perfection and didn't cut the mouth. Dipping it in the curry sauce made each bite fragrant and delicious. Next, we had the must-order Tom Yum Goong soup! The soup was quite flavorful but not too spicy, so I could drink it. I loved the fresh prawns in the soup, which added to the spicy and fresh taste. This beautifully presented dish is called Mango Explosion Fish! The waiter said it was tilapia, and I think it was my first time trying it! The fish was fried to a crispy perfection and deboned, so even those who are afraid of fish bones didn't have to worry. It was served with tangy green mango and sweet and spicy sauce, making it crispy and refreshing. Next was a dish that was perfect with rice! It was a whole Thai-style braised pork knuckle. The pork knuckle skin was flavorful and sticky, and the meat was tender and soft. It was served with some pickled vegetables, making the whole dish incredibly tasty. After eating so much meat, we had to have some vegetables! The stir-fried water spinach was very flavorful, with just the right amount of shrimp paste, not too salty. The water spinach was tender and crunchy, showing the chef's skill. The Thai-style stir-fried cabbage was also good, but I preferred the water spinach because it was easier to chew. Finally, we had to have dessert before leaving! The three-color mango sticky rice was visually appealing and had a nice chewy texture. Paired with the ripe mango, it was really delicious.
