4-Day Itinerary for Hohhot

She Yi Tea Culture Hotel (Hohhot Dazhao Temple Branch) In-Depth Experience 🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness: Pretty good 🏘️Room Type/Layout: Pretty good 🛌Supplies/Facilities: There is a self-service laundry, the girls even went to wash and dry clothes late at night [Joyful] 💰Average Cost: Please check the hotel's current price 💗Other Tips: The hotel's breakfast is great, the baked goods are better than what I've had in outside restaurants. Also, the hotel offers afternoon tea, and you can enjoy tea in the pavilion in the evening, very comfortable! DAY 1: Depart from Beijing North in the morning, singing and laughing all the way, arrive at Hohhot East at noon, then take a taxi to the hotel. By the way, the hat-wearing uncles in Hohhot really have to work hard; one of the taxi drivers we took smelled strongly of alcohol, and we only realized after the car started moving, but we didn’t dare say anything [Facepalm]. The hotel environment is very nice, no time to enjoy it, dropped off luggage and headed straight to Deshunyuan for Shaomai, which is within walking distance. Since we arrived after 3 pm, only Shaomai was available, and it was delicious! After a full meal, we saw a beautiful lady’s mobile coffee cart across the street, just what we needed to recharge our coffee cravings. She offers milk skin coffee, with roasted rice added, something you can’t get in Beijing! Next to the coffee cart is a specialty store where you can enjoy coffee while eating milk skin rolls, nice! After resting enough, we strolled back to the hotel along Sai Shang Old Street. The sun in Hohhot is intense, I really experienced it! When we were walking Sai Shang Old Street around 5:30 pm, we wondered why there were so few people on the pedestrian street. The sun was scorching me, almost making me lose it [Facepalm]. Later we realized that most people only come out to shop after sunset; only we were foolishly out in the sun. In the evening, we went to Kuangxiangzi Food Street, which is a bit far to walk. When we left, we asked a hat-wearing uncle near the hotel who told us it was just two traffic lights away. Didn’t expect the traffic lights in Hohhot to be so far apart [Facepalm]. For those with less stamina or who don’t want to digest food by walking, I recommend renting a bike or taking a ride [Chukle]. Kuangxiangzi is crowded; first-timers to Hohhot can check it out, but if you come again, you might skip it. DAY 2: In the morning, visit Wuliang Dazhao Temple to pray, light lamps, and walk around the pagoda, feeling fulfilled. In the afternoon, visit the Inner Mongolia Museum, which is free! The exhibitions are wonderful, and the cultural products are interesting, worth a second visit. DAY 3: In the morning, pick up the rental car and drive to Hongshiya Sky Grassland! The drive was easy; some girls online said it was difficult, but I don’t know what their standard is [NosePick]. Driving into the mountains, sometimes the navigation loses signal, but Gaode Map switches to satellite signal automatically, so no worries about getting lost. Once deep in the mountains, the only inconvenience is the restroom situation. Please find a tree root or grass patch that looks suitable for relief. Surprisingly, there was another coffee cart halfway up the mountain, which was amazing! Drinking coffee in the rain while enjoying the scenery, so comfortable 👍. After resting, we set off again and drove straight to the pre-booked Mongolian yurt. We caught the tail end of summer. In Hohhot, we wore shorts and T-shirts, but by the time we reached Hongshiya Sky Grassland, we had to add layers and ended up in winter clothes. I wore thermal leggings from Youjia and jeans on the bottom, and on top thermal wear + T-shirt + thin fleece + fleece-lined jacket, wearing everything I could. The yurt manager said we were probably the last guests of the summer. The yurt we booked was very clean, with floor heating. Five girls stayed in one yurt, and sleeping on the floor was not cold. We didn’t encounter the bugs mentioned in other posts. The restroom was outside the yurt, which was fine during the day. It started raining in the evening and rained heavily all night. The grassland night is truly dark, the kind where you can get lost. To avoid getting up at night, we all tried to drink less water and held out until dawn [Facepalm]. DAY 4: When dawn broke, it was truly worth the trip. Groups of camels were grazing outside the yurt. Several ostriches were wandering around. In the distance, horses were running. The wind blowing through the grass, blue sky and white clouds, exactly like the opening scene of the TV series "Genghis Khan." Enjoy these few hours of life! The Sky Grassland road is a loop; you can drive around, take photos everywhere, each one good enough for a desktop wallpaper. We stayed here until we had to check out. Then, drove down the mountain, ate near the East Station, returned the car, took the train back to Beijing, and arrived home safely! Perfect!
