Located at No. 62 Tongdao North Road, Xincheng District, Hohhot, the Heshuo Kejing Princess Mansion was the residence of Princess Heshuo Kejing, the sixth daughter of Emperor Kangxi. Historical Origins Construction Background: The Qing Dynasty adopted a policy of appeasement towards Mongolia, marrying Princess Kejing to Dondubdorji, the son of Tushetu Khan of the Khalkha Mongol tribe, and building a mansion for her. Construction Time and Changes: Initially built in the forty-second year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1703), the Princess Mansion was relocated three times. It was first located in Huayuan Alley, Qingshuihe County, then moved to the west bank of the Zadahai River, northwest of the old city of Hohhot. The existing mansion was built during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng. Architectural Features Overall Layout: The mansion adopts a central axis symmetrical layout, divided into four courtyards with five layers. There is a screen wall and an imperial road in the front, and a garden and a horse farm in the back. The main gate, ceremonial gate, Jingyitang Hall, bedroom, and side halls are arranged according to regulations. Architectural Style: The main buildings have a hard-mountain style roof. The doorways, stonework, brick carvings, and colorful paintings demonstrate exquisite craftsmanship. The walls are built with polished bricks and fine joints, with Han white marble strips pressing the corners and eaves. The carved brick eaves are exquisite and unique.
