Family Getaway Near Shenzhen | 2-Day 1-Night Guide to Chunmuyuan

With summer vacation already a month in and Shenzhen's recent bad weather—typhoons and heavy rain—our little ones were getting restless at home. Keeping an eye on the forecast, we seized this rain-free weekend to take little Orange to Chunmuyuan Town in Heyuan, a perfect spot for family vacations and stress-free kid-friendly fun. Just a 2-3-hour 🚘 drive from Shenzhen, we spent 2 days and 1 night here‼️ Honestly, it felt way too short—it was SO much fun‼️ Below is our itinerary, shared chronologically~ 🏠 Accommodation: We stayed in a spacious two-bedroom flat at the Blue Grape Hotel Apartments. The room was cozy and homey, fully equipped with all toiletries, including a kiddo step stool. Baby bed rails are also available (just ask the front desk). 👉🏻 Day 1: We drove from Shenzhen and arrived at 4 PM. After check-in and a short rest, we headed to the iconic "Green Apple Lawn" around 5 PM—the light was perfect for photos. Nearby, there’s Youth Bookstore and Morse Coffee, great spots to cool off (coffee costs 20-30 RMB). 🧊 Ice-Chiseling Challenge: Fridays-Sundays, 5:00-5:30 PM. Kids can wear helmets to play, but ours was too young, so we just watched the older kids. 🍅 Tomato Obstacle Race: Daily, 5:00-5:30 PM. Run to the beat of the music while dodging "tomato sauce" (cornstarch—easy to wash off!). The one with the least "sauce" wins 😝. 🎈 The hot air balloon looked stunning—great for photos! 🥣 Dinner at First Canteen: Affordable with a wide variety. The blueberry mousse was a hit with little Orange. 🎸 Evening stroll to Green Apple Lawn for interactive folk and rock concerts—such a vibe! Pure happiness 😝. 🎆 At Woods Camp, there was a bonfire party and fireworks. We even caught the fireworks during the lantern-wishing boat ride—lucky us! The view from the boat was amazing. 🏊🏻 After 9 PM, we grabbed our gear and hit the infinity pool and hot springs at Palm Tree Hotel. Hot springs close at midnight, and after a relaxing soak, it was bedtime 💤. 👉🏻 Day 2: After a leisurely hotel breakfast, we explored the area. In the afternoon, we caught the "Tomato Puppet Show" near the entrance to "Dragon Bone Playground." Walking along the creek was so refreshing! The playground has non-powered facilities like slides, climbing nets, zip lines, and swings. Don’t forget a fishing net—there’s a 🆓 worm-catching activity in the afternoon (adults had more fun than kids!). Feed your catch to the geese by the shore! 🦕 Dino Island Water Park: A kid’s paradise! Super fun water play 😁—just remember towels and dry clothes. The whole trip was so relaxing. Chunmuyuan Town is a fantastic choice for a Shenzhen getaway. We’ll definitely be back 😝!
