The galleries of the reliefs are easy to follow and the entrance to the large ravine is to the left of the temple foundations. The strange and evocative inscriptions are very unusual. The fashions of the gods and goddesses depicted are unlike Greek, Roman or Egyptian. There are a vast array of Hittite deities wearing strange shoes, hats and clothing. In the smaller ravine is a ‘sword god’ with lions heads and sun depictions. A truly remarkable adventure and no crowds! Fantastic opportunity for artists and designers particularly in textiles and fashion! As a lone female I was perfectly safe and the guardian of the site was very helpful. There is a small craft market where you can buy craft items made locally🏛️ The images are captured on the site and present the remarkable reliefs that the visitor can see.
