Hattusa The Ancient Capital of the Hittite Empire

#adventuremoments #ancient #turkey #travel #hittites #museums #thingstodo #myitinerary #thingstodo #off-road#ancient_city #off #ancientcity #art #turkishgem #turkish #ancient #tripmoments Hattusa is a very impressive and significant ancient city of the Hittite Empire. Very remote in beautiful countryside it is an exciting visit. The Lions Gate so so impressive and larger than I expected it to be. Your imagination is set alight by the vastness of the site. The site dates to before 2000BC and many of the artefacts found are in the Anatolian Museum in Ankara. In Bogazkale there is a very impressive museum with many objects from the site. A fantastic inspiring place to visit if you are an artist and designer as you can paint and sketch on site. There are no crowds of tourists here, it’s an amazingly remote spot where you can explore. The images show much of the site, The Great Temple, Lions Gate, Earth Gate, kings Gate and great Fortress. I especially enjoyed the carved gods and warrior kings, very ancient. Really off the beaten track, a special visit for brave travellers 📍Address: Southeast of modern Bogazkale. Access on foot. Take a taxi from Sungurlu to Bogazkale. How to get around: I got a bus from Central Ankara bus station to Sungurlu, then a taxi to site from the bus station. Take plenty of cash and be ready to haggle! Must-see attractions: Hattusa Ancient City, Bogazkale Museum, Yazilikaya. Hotel guide: I stayed in central Ankara: Radisson Blue Shopping guide: gift shops in Yazilikaya for books, postcards and small sculptures of the ancient artwork 🏖️Ambiance/Facilities: no crowds or tourists. 💰Average Price per Person: public transport cost around £10 return from Ankara. Haggle for a taxi to take you to the site £20-30 Site entrance £3.00 🕰️Business Hours: 9-6pm 💞Reasons to Recommend: An amazing experience for travellers interested in Ancient Cities 💞Reasons to Recommend: get your step count for the day! A very long walk around the site and museum 💞Reasons to Recommend: great for painting and drawing! So inspiring!
