Thanks to my friend's postcard, I got a photo with the museum director!

After learning that I started exchanging postcards, my friend gifted me their entire collection of Asian Games series and Hangzhou No. 7 Middle School 110th Anniversary series postcards and stamps. Today at the Kuahuqiao meeting, they brought me themed postcards from the Zhu Bingren Post Office! Zhu Bingren's works can be found everywhere in Hangzhou, such as the Jiangnan Copper House, Leifeng Pagoda, Lingyin Temple's Copper Hall, Qianwang Temple's Dedication Hall, and Hangzhou Xiangji Temple - all iconic landmark buildings. To my surprise, I discovered that the double-curved copper roof of Hangzhou Edition Hall, the copper archway of Qiushi Academy, the interlocking bracket sets of Hangzhou International Expo Center, and the copper wall decorations of Kuahuqiao Site Museum are also Zhu Bingren's works! So, we got the special stamp of Kuahuqiao and took photos at the copper wall by the entrance. We happened to meet Wu Jian, the director of Kuahuqiao Museum, waiting for guests under the copper wall, looking just like the halberd-holding guard welcoming distinguished guests in the Han Dynasty stone carvings of Nanyang. He was surprised to see us photographing the copper wall under the scorching sun, and was delighted that we knew about Zhu Bingren, one of the three masters of the Grand Canal, rather than just as the grandfather of Maybach young master Zhu Yetian. Since the conversation was going well, I seized the opportunity to ask for his signature and a photo together. Director Wu, with a military background, has been passionate about calligraphy and painting for decades. From Linhai and Xiaoshan to Kuahuqiao Museum, he has dedicated himself to museum work, and every major exhibition he introduces is very detailed, often making me willing to travel across half of Hangzhou to visit! As it happens, we share some connections - we gave speeches at Xianghu Post Station one after another, and we were even fortunate enough to appear in the same calendar. I'm reminded of Bei Dao's poem: "I wasn't born a sailor, but I hang my heart on the ship's rail, setting sail with companions like an anchor." As long as life continues, may our footsteps never cease.
