The first snow of 2025 fell on Jingshan Temple.

Jingshan Temple, one of the Five Mountains and Ten Temples of Jiangnan, is located on the top of Mount Jingshan in Yuhang, Hangzhou. It is known as one of the "Five Zen Mountains," along with Lingyin Temple and Jingci Temple in Hangzhou, and Tiantong Temple and Ayuwang Temple in Ningbo. It enjoys the prestigious reputation of being the "foremost Jingshan under heaven." When Su Shi was the mayor of Hangzhou, he often traveled from his West Lake office to Jingshan Temple to drink tea and discuss Zen. Jingshan Temple is the ancestral home of the Japanese Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism. Of the 24 schools of Japanese Zen, 18 originated from Jingshan. The Japanese tea ceremony also originated from the "tea banquet" at Jingshan Temple (the Jingshan tea banquet is listed in the third batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage). I hiked there once in 2021, and again on February 22, 2025. Four years later, with spring snow falling all around, When the wind rises again, the world has changed.
