Hami Hui Palace The Qing palace of the Hami Uyghur leader.

On September 13, 2024, I crossed the Qaidam Basin for the fifth time and entered Xinjiang for the third time from Golmud City, Qinghai Province. The first place we visited was the Hami Hui Palace, which had the highest exposure rate along the way. This palace and Hui city were designed and built by Han craftsmen invited from the capital to design it in the 38th year of Emperor Kangxi (1699) after the Hami Uyghur leader Ebedullah broke away from the Dzungar tribe and surrendered to the Qing Dynasty. It took seven years to complete. It was later repaired, processed and expanded by several generations of Hui kings. By the time of the seventh king, King Bosir, it had become a magnificent garden complex with houses and gardens connected to each other. In 1931, taking advantage of a peasant uprising, the troops stationed in Hami Province invaded Hui City. In their search for treasures, they set the 200-year-old Hui Palace on fire. The fire burned for 30 days. In 2004, the first phase of the reconstruction of the original site of Hami Hui Palace was launched. However, I cannot agree with its scale, form and construction level.
