It is also relatively unpopular compared to many places in Tokyo. But if you like landscape photography, want freedom, and don’t want to take pictures of only heads of people, this place is definitely suitable for you. transportation: 1: Plane ✈️ (55 minutes) - ANA has three flights a day between Hachijo Island and Haneda Airport 2: Ship 🛳️ (about 10 hours) - Tokai Kisen departs from Takeshiba Pier once a day at 22:30 suggestion: 1. Set out on a boat 🛳️, and arrive at around 8:55 the next morning after a good night's sleep, which saves one day of accommodation. The big boat is basically very stable, and the equipment on board is also very complete. You can eat and take a shower, and you can also enjoy the night view of Tokyo from a unique perspective. 2. For the return flight ✈️, you can choose the flight that takes off at least 6 o'clock to use up the time (the risk is that there are often strong winds on the island, and the rate of aircraft missing flights is slightly higher than that of ships) On the island: 1. Take the bus 🚌- There are three bus lines on the island that shuttle between the airport, the pier, major attractions and even hot springs, but Google Maps lacks information. You can refer to the Hachijojima Bus website or go to the tourist center to inquire when you arrive. 2. Rent an electric bike. B&Bs generally provide electric bikes/electric skateboards for rent. The road conditions and sidewalks on the island are very good. The disadvantage is that climbing Hachijo Fuji will be very strenuous 🤣 3. (Highly recommended) Rent a car and drive - the highest degree of freedom. I rented a car from Movil Rent Car Hachijo Island Branch. Reservations can be made online in advance. They also provide airport/port pick-up and drop-off services. It is right next to the gas station, so I can fill up the gas there when returning the car. Photography spots (too many to count, just a few to mention) 1: Nanhara Senjo Rocks - The volcanic geology formed by lava flowing out to the sea after the eruption of Hachijo Fuji. In addition, it is located to the west, which is definitely the best choice for sunset (dusk time is recommended) 2: Hachijo Fuji - The highest mountain on Hachijo Island, an active volcano with well-developed hiking trails. However, there are often strong winds on the mountain, so be prepared (recommended on sunny days with low winds) 3: Hachijo Fuji Farm - Located not far from the entrance to Hachijo Fuji, this large ranch for raising cattle offers endless views. 4: Nagato Observatory - There are many observation decks on the island, but I personally recommend this one. You can choose to take photos at sunrise.
