Guangzhou People's Park is located in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, and is the first comprehensive park in Guangzhou. It has a long history, and the site of the park has been the residence of government officials since the Sui Dynasty, the office of the Censorate of Guangdong Province in the Yuan Dynasty, and the office of the Capital Command in the Ming Dynasty. The park covers an area of 44,600 square meters and is located on the traditional central axis of the old city of Guangzhou. It was officially opened on October 12, 1921, and was originally named "Municipal First Park", renamed "Central Park" in 1925, and officially renamed "People's Park" in 1966. The park is laid out in an Italian pattern garden, in a square geometric symmetrical form.
