The only cathedral in Southeast Asia built entirely of granite.

Construction of the Sacred Heart Cathedral began in 1863 and took 25 years to complete. It was officially completed in 1888. The cathedral was designed by a French designer and built by Chinese craftsmen. It is the only Gothic cathedral in Southeast Asia built entirely of granite and is relatively well-preserved. It has high historical, architectural, and artistic value. In 1996, it was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is one of the all-stone Gothic church buildings, and is as famous as Notre Dame in Paris, Westminster Abbey in London, and Cologne Cathedral in Germany. The cathedral covers a total area of 2,754 square meters, with a width of 35 meters from east to west and a length of 78.69 meters from north to south. It is 58.5 meters high from the ground to the spire. The front of the church is a pair of towering twin stone spires.
