Chen Clan Ancestral Hall (Guangdong Folk Art Museum)

[Chen Clan Ancestral Hall] Also known as "Chen Clan Academy", it is located on Zhongshan 7th Road, Guangzhou. The academy was established in the 14th year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty and completed in the 19th year. It is a "joint ancestral hall" funded by the Chen Clan in various places in Guangdong Province. It is one of the largest existing traditional buildings in Guangfu, and it is also the largest, best-preserved, and most beautifully decorated ancestral hall-style building. It is known as the "Pearl of Lingnan Architectural Art". The entire house uses stone carvings, brick carvings, wood carvings, gray sculptures, pottery sculptures, copper and iron castings, and colored paintings from the base pillars to the ridge. The overall shape is vivid, the colors are rich, and the craftsmanship is exquisite. Guo Moruo once praised it in a poem: "The work of heaven can be replaced by man, and the work of man is unknown to heaven. It is indeed the creation of the world, better than reading for ten years."
