|Chen Clan Academy - Astonishing! | The gem of Lingnan architectural art, the Guangdong Folk Art Museum, was established in 1959 with the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall as its site, a national first-class museum. The site, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall (inscribed with Chen Clan Academy), was completed in the 19th year of the Guangxu period (1893) of the Qing Dynasty. It was a joint ancestral hall built by the Chen clans from various parts of Guangdong in Guangzhou. Chen Clan Ancestral Hall integrates various architectural decoration crafts of the Lingnan region, including wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, pottery sculpture, plaster sculpture, bronze and iron casting, and color painting. It is known as the 'Pearl of Lingnan Architectural Art' and is the largest, best-preserved, and most exquisitely decorated ancestral hall-style building existing in China.
