The well-preserved plinth brick carvings of Chen Clan Academy best reflect the style characteristics of Guangdong's 'hanging line brick carving'. Its plane is mostly dealt with various lines, which are dense, vigorous, delicate and uniform, vertical like a line, and the craftsmanship is exquisite, hence the name 'hanging line brick carving'. The eleven pottery ridge decorations of Chen Clan Academy are the largest and most luxurious traditional architectural decorations of the Qing Dynasty existing in Guangdong. They were made by famous shops such as Shiwan Wenru Bi and Baoyu Rong. The ridge decorations are made with exaggerated and large-effect modeling techniques to meet the needs of people's viewing angles, using pottery clay to shape, glazed and high-temperature fired, and then installed on the roof.
