After slumbering for thousands of years, its awakening astonishes the world

Sanxingdui, located by the Yazi River in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, China, is a key cultural relic protection unit of the third batch in China and an archaeological site of the Shu culture from the Neolithic Age to the Shang and Zhou dynasties. The site unearthed thousands of precious artifacts in 1986, including a large bronze standing figure, a bronze sacred tree, and bronze masks. In May 2022, six sacrificial pits from the Sanxingdui culture were excavated. To protect and display the Sanxingdui artifacts, the Sanxingdui Museum was established and opened to the public in October 1997 at the northeast corner of the site. The discovery of Sanxingdui has provided solid evidence for the existence of the Bronze Age in the southwest region of China, altering the previous understanding of the region's historical culture. It holds significant importance for the study of the culture and society of China's Bronze Age.
