Qiunatong, the northernmost point of the Nujiang Grand Canyon

"Qiunatong" is a Nu ethnic word meaning "black water dam." Qiunatong is located in a valley. The nearby stream appears dark due to the light and shadow effects, and the terrain is relatively open, hence the name. The village is mainly composed of Nu-style wooden houses built along the mountain, with wooden carvings on the eaves. On sunny days, villagers graze sheep on the hillside and grow corn and wheat in the fields next to their houses. The northern end of the Nujiang Grand Canyon is the border of Tibet. Today, the village's tourism industry is booming. There is a guesthouse called Abai, which serves delicious food. If you are driving, you can contact the owner in advance. Qiunatong is located in the valley of Biluo Snow Mountain. A small road behind the village leads to the other side of Meili Snow Mountain after a four-hour hike, offering a different view from Feilai Temple or Wunongding in Deqin. Few people know about this route, so you need a guide from the village. The village is preparing to build a viewing platform and level the road. In two or three years, it will become a popular hiking spot.
