Gosausea

Gosausee is a lake formed by melting glaciers from the surrounding mountains millions of years ago. During that time, the glaciers eroded the mountains. Sound familiar? It's like a Norwegian fjord! No wonder the scenery here looks so much like Norway. There's a walking path around the lake, which is very peaceful and close to nature. If you're feeling energetic, you can continue up the mountain to another lake, Hintere Seealm, with crystal-clear green water that you can even see the fish. For those who can't handle the hustle and bustle, there's a horse-drawn carriage service, which only runs once a day. Since I was on a tight budget, I decided to hike. Importantly, the weather is cool in the summer, unlike Hallstatt, which is sweltering and crowded with tourists. After returning from my trip to Hallstatt, I felt I made the right decision by staying at Gosausee.
