Ganzhou Ancient City Wall

The Ganzhou Ancient City Wall is located on the banks of the confluence of the Zhangjiang and Gongjiang Rivers. It was first built during the Jin Dynasty and renovated during the Northern Song Dynasty. The Ganzhou City Wall stretches from Xijin Gate along the Zhangjiang River to Bajing Terrace, from Bajing Terrace along the Gongjiang River past Yongjin Gate and Jianchun Gate to the original Baisheng Gate, and ends at the current Donghe Bridge. It is 3,664 meters long, 5–7 meters high, and 4–6 meters wide. It retains four city gates (North Gate, Xijin Gate, Jianchun Gate, and Yongjin Gate), two cannon towers (Bajing Terrace and Xijin Gate), one horse face, and some police stations. The Ganzhou City Wall is of great historical value for the study of ancient Chinese military defense, urban flood control, and urban construction and development.
