The Lin Zexu Memorial Hall

The Fuzhou Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, rebuilt from the Lin Wen Zhong Gong Ancestral Shrine, is a typical representative of "Fuzhou Ancient Houses" and the largest and most extensive courtyard in the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys. It's definitely worth taking the time to explore thoroughly. Enter through the Paifang Gate and the Yi Gate, and you'll see the Imperial Stele Pavilion. Further inside, you'll find the Shude Hall, the Flower Hall, the Yunzuo Pavilion, the Quchi Building, and various garden landscapes. Here, you can not only see exhibitions on Lin Zexu's historical achievements and anti-drug efforts but also appreciate the classical gardens of Fuzhou from the late Qing Dynasty. Almost every courtyard features miniature landscapes paired with tropical plants, cleverly designed to showcase the unique scenery of Southern Fujian. The two-story Quchi Building, simple yet elegant, originally served as a study area for the Lin family's younger generation. In front of the building, lawns, fish ponds, rockeries, flowers, trees, and bamboo groves are spread out, surrounded by exquisite pavilions, terraces, and towers, small bridges, and flowing water. The tranquil and pleasing environment truly transports you into a classical garden painting.
