Provincial Protected Ancient Pagoda - Gaoshan Pagoda

Gaoshan Pagoda is located on Gaoshan Road, Gaoshan Mountain, Shuncheng District, Fushun City. It was built in the 4th year of the Daan period of Emperor Daozong of Liao (1088). According to records, there were originally two pagodas on Gaoshan Mountain, but the east pagoda has collapsed. The existing Gaoshan Pagoda was rebuilt in the 1990s and is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. Halfway up the mountain, there is a Guanyin Pavilion built in the air, which was built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and was later destroyed. It was also rebuilt in the 1990s. Gaoshan Pagoda is an octagonal nine-story dense-eave brick pagoda, 14.3 meters high, consisting of five parts: the base, the seat, the body, the top, and the finial. Each corner of the dense eaves on each floor is hung with a wind chime. Each of the eight sides of the pagoda has a rectangular niche with a Buddha statue inside, a brick-carved canopy above, and a pair of flying apsaras in relief. It takes about an hour to reach Gaoshan Mountain from Shenyang. Gaoshan Park starts from Lingqian Street in the east, extends to the east of Leifeng Forest in the west, reaches the south of General Peak in the north, and faces Gaoshan Road in the south, covering an area of 1.6 million square meters. Gaoshan Mountain is 230 meters above sea level. In addition to Gaoshan Pagoda and Guanyin Pavilion, there are also many ancient sites on the mountain, such as the site of Gaoshan Mountain City and the ruins of the beacon tower of General Peak. There are 3 national protected units near Gaoshan Mountain, among which Shijiagou Cemetery and the former site of Fushun War Criminals Management Office are relatively close to Gaoshan Mountain; the former site of the Pingdingshan Massacre is less than 10 kilometers away from Gaoshan Mountain, and it takes 15-20 minutes to drive there. You will pass through Yong'an Bridge, a bridge across the Hun River, and the scenery along the way is good, especially at sunset.
