The city guardian temple - Kushida Shrine

The Kushida Shrine is one of the most important shrine in Fukuoka. It is said to be built in 757 AD, and is centrally located near Gion station. There are many things to see within the complex. For example, the architecture of the building is beautiful on the outer gate and inner court. The huge Ginko trees ( best to see in Dec when the leaves turns totally yellow- ), the beautifully decorated float for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa, the well with the three cranes which is said to grant longevity, just to name a few. The best time to visit is early morning as the sun is directly on the building for taking good photos. It also opens beyond 9pm and is well lit too. Many locals would drop by for their prayers. Definitely not to be missed. ##urbanexplorer ##kyushu ##fukuoka
