The sea gradually got closer outside the train window, and when the island came into view, my heart already felt calm. ⸻ ⛩ Enoshima Shrine – Time to slowly climb When you enter Enoshima Island, the first thing that greets you is the red torii (鳥居). As you pass through that gate and climb the stairs to **Enoshima Shrine (江島神社)**, you feel as if you are stepping back in time to the past. The shrine is divided into three parts, and each enshrines three goddesses with deep ties to the sea. The dragon patterns carved here and there, the quietly swaying wind chimes, and the wooden ema (木札) with wishes written on them, seemed to speak to you even in the silence. The moment I burned incense and quietly put my hands together, I finally felt the time of this place enter me. I closed my eyes for a moment and listened to the sound of the wind. ⸻ 🗻 Mt. Fuji, sparkling beyond the sea After climbing up the shrine for a while and reaching the observation deck, Mt. Fuji appeared in the distance. A quiet mountain covered in white snow, and a pink sunset spreading behind it. “Wow…” I exclaimed involuntarily. The image that appeared briefly between the clouds was so vivid that it seemed as if time had stopped for a moment. It was not enough to capture it in a photo, but it was more real to see it with my own eyes. I sat there for a long time and watched. I didn’t say anything, and just shared Mt. Fuji, the sea, and the wind. ⸻ 🍡 Small shops in front of the shrine On the way back, I ate warm dango and matcha at a small shop in front of the shrine. The wind was cold, but the sweetness and bitterness warmed my heart. I bought a small Fujisan amulet as a souvenir. The moment when the saying, “When your heart is clouded, remember this view” suddenly came to mind. ⸻ 🎐 What I learned in Enoshima There were no special events or fancy shopping on this trip, but it had a deeper resonance than anything else. The silence of the shrine, the overwhelming peace of Mt. Fuji, and all the moments I walked slowly and felt slowly. Enoshima gave me such a quiet, memorable trip.
