🇵🇹 Geological Walk 📍Foz do Douro

#europeonbudget Foz do Douro is a district in Porto, located at the mouth of the Douro River, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic coastline in Foz features stunning formations of ancient rocks that are over 570 million years old, interspersed with younger granite rocks about 290 million years old. Together, these formations make up the Foz do Douro Metamorphic Complex, which stretches along small beaches between São Francisco Xavier Fort and Felgueiras Pier. Over time, the sea continues to sculpt these ancient rocks into new forms, such as sand. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the massive Atlantic waves crash against the magnificent rock outcrops.
