Exploring the Canals in Northern Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

#100waysoftravel This is the Caledonian Canal and it is located in the highlands of Scotland specifically in Fort Augustus. It is the longest 60 mile waterway Inland and you can do cruise trip here if you are keen. Can’t really recommend this enough as the place offers one of the best and breathtaking scenery in Scotland. If you are not into cruising you can definitely just cycle or walk around while you watch so many things going on like boats passing by or some bag pipers that provides fantastic ambience to the place. Enjoy your visit!

Fort Augustus

Fort Augustus is at the south west end of Loch Ness. The village has a population of less than a thousand and the economy is heavily reliant on tourism. Lying on the impressive 60 miles long Caledonian Canal, halfway between Fort Willam and Inverness. Visitors can explore the surroundings by taking the Loch Ness cruise. It is a wonderful place to stop and relax, plenty of restaurants and shops to entertain you.
