Its enormous cupola, a famous example of early Renaissance Gothic architecture, is a highlight. The highlight is the fresco "The Last Judgment" inside the cupola (the domed ceiling). With advance reservations, you can ascend the stairs to the rooftop observation deck for a closer look at the magnificent fresco. While admission to the interior of the Duomo is free, you must purchase a combined ticket and make a reservation in advance on the official website to access the cupola.
