Medina Fresh Market

We entered through an old brick door, shadows casting long shadows on the stone floor. My friend and I walked along the alley, as if we were just strolling, but every step offered something to admire. Some of the doors still had intricately carved iron handles, so beautiful we dared not turn them. The market was full of life—live chickens tied to cages, their legs rumbling, competing with the surrounding vendors. Light cut directly into the center of the market, and smoke rose in the air, creating an unexpectedly beautiful scene. Pile of dates, dried fruits, shoes, and cloth—everything was arranged in a chaotic, yet seemingly orderly fashion. A little further along, we encountered piles of fruits and vegetables. Vendors, some sitting quietly at their stalls, others chatting loudly with customers. Bright red tomatoes, green peppers, and eggplants piled up like small mountains of markets in Thailand, but with a much more retro atmosphere. The old Fes, or Fes el-Bali, is a truly surviving city. Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the most populated city in the world. It still preserves the medieval market system, small alleys, specialized shops, and daily life that has continued for over a thousand years. #Morroco #FesElBal #Medina
