Dunhuang Mogao Caves

🌟Highlights: The Mogao Caves are located in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, at the western end of the Hexi Corridor. The caves were carved over a period of about 1,000 years, from the Sixteen Kingdoms period to the Yuan dynasty. There are currently 735 caves. ❤Recommended reasons: The Dunhuang Grottoes are a three-dimensional art form that combines architecture, sculpture, and murals. The caves are divided into two areas: the southern area has 492 caves and is used for Buddhist activities, while the northern area has 243 caves and is mainly used as a residence for monks and craftsmen. The northern area has facilities for living and practicing Buddhism, such as kangs, flues, niches, and lampstands, but most of the caves do not have painted sculptures or murals.
