It is reported that there are more than 1,000. The grey cranes fly in groups from the north to the Poyang Lake wetlands in Duchang to forage, with Duchang being the first stop. At present, the grey cranes are relatively concentrated; as more migratory birds arrive and food becomes scarcer, the grey cranes will gradually disperse to forage. It is introduced that the grey cranes mainly feed on the rhizomes of plants such as water pepper grass and generally do not eat fish.
