Alcoholic beverages such as soju, beer, and makgeolli are priced at just 3,000 KRW! This explains the low turnover rate—people don’t just eat gukbap quickly and leave; they stay longer because the drinks are cheap and the side dishes are delicious! The table is set with side dishes including fresh kimchi, diced radish kimchi, chili peppers, onions, and a dipping sauce for the meat in the gukbap. They also provide noodles that can be added to the gukbap. While I expected the restaurant to serve chicken, seeing fresh kimchi at a gukbap restaurant was a first for me. Everything here feels unique. The gukbap contains more meat than I anticipated. You can season it to your taste, but before adding any seasoning, I tried the broth first. It reminded me of the beef soup my mother used to make when I was young—comforting and nostalgic. The flavor is mild, making it suitable even for children. The chicken I had been looking forward to finally arrived. The portion size was generous, and it’s hard to believe it costs only 10,000 KRW! Initially, I thought of the chicken as just a side dish and even considered ordering two portions. Thankfully, I didn’t—one portion was more than enough. The chicken doesn’t resemble the typical fried chicken you’d find at other places. It’s more like chicken cutlet or similar to Yurinji-style chicken. The soy sauce seasoning on the chicken was absolutely delicious! In terms of flavor, it’s comparable to freshly fried Kyochon Chicken. Despite being coated in a moist sauce, the chicken remained crispy until the last bite, which was truly impressive.
