Datong Confucian Temple

Datong Confucian Temple has a significant history; it is the earliest government-run Confucian academy in China. Its history dates back to the Northern Wei period, and in 1396 during the Ming Dynasty, the temple was relocated to its current site. The existing Dacheng Hall was built in the Ming Dynasty and has been repaired multiple times during the Qing Dynasty. The temple layout from front to back includes Yunlu Archway, Dacheng Archway, Lingxing Gate, Pan Pond, Ji Gate, Dacheng Hall, and Zunjing Pavilion. The Zunjing Pavilion is the library in the Confucian academy, with a white marble statue of Confucius standing in front.
